Responsibilities
- Perform Clinical Triage: Utilize evidence-based protocols to assess patient symptoms via phone, secure messaging, or video, determining the appropriate level of care.
- Provider Collaboration: Facilitate communication between patients and providers, ensuring accurate hand-offs and follow-up instructions.
- Patient Education: Educate patients on self-care management, medication adherence, and when to seek immediate emergency services.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely electronic health records (EHR) in compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor call queues and workflow efficiency to ensure optimal patient throughput and satisfaction.
- Crisis Management: Make sound clinical decisions in high-pressure situations to ensure patient safety.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Current and unrestricted North Carolina RN license.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in emergency nursing, urgent care, or telephone triage.
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) required; TNCC or CEN preferred.
- Communication: Superior verbal and written communication skills with a focus on patient empathy and clarity.
- Technology: Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth).
- Problem Solving: Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to assess complex symptoms remotely.
