Responsibilities
- Assess Patient Needs: Utilize advanced triage protocols to evaluate incoming calls and determine the urgency of medical conditions.
- Direct Care: Route patients to the appropriate care setting (Emergency Room, Urgent Care, or Physician referral) based on clinical assessment.
- Medical Guidance: Provide evidence-based self-care instructions and medication guidance to patients and caregivers over the phone.
- Documentation: Accurately and timely document all patient interactions, symptoms, and clinical decisions within the EMR system.
- Collaboration: Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives to enhance triage protocols and patient safety.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Valid New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications must be current.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of acute care nursing or triage experience preferred.
- Skills: Strong computer proficiency, including EMR experience (Epic or Cerner preferred).
- Communication: Exceptional verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex medical information clearly and empathetically.
- Decision Making: Ability to make critical decisions under pressure while adhering to established clinical guidelines.
