Responsibilities
- Process and submit electronic insurance claims using Epic and NextGen systems
- Verify patient eligibility and benefits coverage with major insurers (Blue Cross, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna)
- Appeal denied claims with documentation and follow-up
- Conduct regular audits of coding accuracy (ICD-10, CPT) and compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Reconcile EOBs and patient statements to ensure proper revenue cycle management
- Collaborate with physicians and billing teams to resolve account discrepancies
- Generate monthly reports on denial rates and collection performance
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience with commercial and government payers
- Certification (CPC, CPC-A, or CCS-P) from AAPC or AHIMA
- Proficiency in medical billing software (Epic, NextGen, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of CPT, HCPCS Level II, and ICD-10 coding
- Exceptional attention to detail with 98%+ claims accuracy
- Excellent communication skills for insurer and patient interactions
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration or related field preferred
