Responsibilities
- Accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS standards
- Submit clean claims to insurance companies and government payers (Medicare/Medicaid)
- Manage accounts receivable and follow up on unpaid claims within 30-60 days
- Resolve claim denials and patient billing inquiries through documentation and appeals
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and industry best practices
- Utilize Epic and NextGen EHR systems for billing integration
- Generate monthly reports on denial rates and reimbursement trends
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience with insurance claim submission
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC credential required
- Proficiency in medical coding guidelines (CPT/ICD-10)
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA compliance and billing regulations
- Experience with EHR systems (Epic or NextGen preferred)
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting with minimal supervision
