Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense prescription medications and compound specialty pharmaceuticals under pharmacist supervision
- Manage inventory control systems including ordering, receiving, and auditing controlled substances
- Train and mentor junior pharmacy technicians on procedures and compliance standards
- Process insurance claims and resolve billing discrepancies with insurance providers
- Maintain HIPAA-compliant patient records and pharmacy documentation systems
- Provide medication counseling to patients and healthcare professionals
- Coordinate with nursing staff and physicians to ensure optimal patient care protocols
Qualifications
- Active Michigan Pharmacy Technician license and PTCB certification
- Minimum 3 years of hospital or retail pharmacy experience
- Proficiency in pharmacy management software (e.g., Omnicell, QS/1)
- Strong knowledge of FDA medication safety regulations and state pharmacy laws
- Certification in sterile compounding (ASHP preferred)
- Exceptional attention to detail and multitasking abilities
- Ability to work flexible shifts including evenings and weekends
