Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary puncture, and specialized blood collection procedures with precision
- Ensure proper specimen handling, labeling, and transportation to maintain chain of custody
- Verify patient identity and explain procedures to reduce anxiety and ensure compliance
- Maintain sterile techniques and adhere to OSHA and CLIA regulations
- Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment including centrifuges and analyzers
- Document all procedures accurately in electronic health records
- Train junior staff on phlebotomy best practices and safety protocols
Qualifications
- Current Minnesota Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP or AMT)
- Minimum 2 years of clinical phlebotomy experience
- BLS/CPR certification from a recognized provider
- Demonstrated proficiency in pediatric and geriatric blood collection
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
- Ability to work efficiently in high-volume outpatient settings
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Valid Minnesota driver's license for occasional specimen transport
