Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures with minimal patient discomfort
- Process and transport specimens to laboratory while maintaining chain-of-custody protocols
- Verify patient identity and ensure accurate sample labeling using barcoding systems
- Train junior phlebotomists on advanced techniques and HIPAA compliance
- Manage inventory of collection supplies and troubleshoot equipment issues
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to optimize specimen processing workflows
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent credential required
- Minimum 3 years of clinical phlebotomy experience
- Experience with pediatric and geriatric blood collection techniques
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and CLIA regulations
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to calm anxious patients
- Basic computer proficiency with EMR systems (Epic preferred)
- Valid CPR certification
