Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipunctures and capillary draws for patients of all ages, including infants and geriatric populations.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, infection control standards, and HIPAA regulations.
- Prepare, label, and process blood specimens efficiently for laboratory analysis.
- Provide exceptional patient care by explaining procedures, alleviating anxiety, and ensuring patient comfort.
- Collaborate effectively with laboratory staff and healthcare providers to ensure timely test results.
- Maintain and sterilize all phlebotomy equipment and supplies according to manufacturer guidelines.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification (ASPT, NHA, ASCP) required.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to de-escalate patient anxiety.
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
