Responsibilities
- Perform complex venipunctures and capillary draws with precision and minimal discomfort
- Process and transport specimens to laboratory while maintaining chain of custody
- Verify patient identity and maintain accurate electronic health records
- Train junior technicians on advanced phlebotomy techniques
- Implement infection control protocols and safety procedures
- Collaborate with physicians and lab staff on specimen collection protocols
- Conduct quality assurance audits and equipment maintenance
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent required
- Minimum 3 years' clinical phlebotomy experience
- Expertise in pediatric, geriatric, and difficult vein access
- BLS/CPR certification
- Proficiency in LIS/HIS systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
- Strong knowledge of CLIA/CAP regulations
- Exceptional communication and patient empathy skills
- Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends
