Responsibilities
- Conduct rapid patient assessments using ESI (Emergency Severity Index) protocols
- Coordinate with physicians and specialists to prioritize critical cases
- Implement triage protocols for adult, pediatric, and geriatric populations
- Oversee departmental compliance with JCAHO and CMS standards
- Mentor junior triage staff and conduct quality improvement reviews
- Utilize Epic EHR systems for accurate documentation and communication
- Develop departmental triage protocols based on evidence-based practices
Qualifications
- BSN degree (MSN preferred) with current MN RN license
- Minimum 5 years emergency department experience
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) or Triage certification required
- Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and pediatric advanced life support (PALS)
- Experience with ESI level 5 triage protocols
- Demonstrated leadership in high-volume emergency settings
- Strong assessment skills for complex medical conditions
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems
