Responsibilities
- Perform rapid patient assessments and prioritize care based on acuity levels using ESI protocols
- Lead interdisciplinary team communications during critical patient events
- Implement evidence-based triage protocols while maintaining HIPAA compliance
- Mentor junior nursing staff on advanced assessment techniques and crisis management
- Collaborate with physicians to develop patient care pathways and discharge planning
- Utilize Epic EHR systems for real-time documentation and care coordination
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives for emergency department efficiency
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of emergency department or critical care nursing experience
- Valid Maryland RN license with current BLS, ACLS, and TNCC certifications
- Expertise in ESI (Emergency Severity Index) triage methodology
- Proven ability to make rapid clinical decisions under pressure
- Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring nursing teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Experience with electronic health record systems (Epic preferred)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher required
