Responsibilities
- Assess patient acuity using ESI protocols and prioritize emergency care based on medical urgency
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient flow through the ED
- Document patient encounters accurately in Epic EHR systems while maintaining HIPAA compliance
- Provide emotional support and clear communication to patients and families during high-stress situations
- Monitor vital signs and initiate emergency interventions for critical patients
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives for triage processes
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Illinois (IL RN) with 3+ years emergency department experience
- BLS, ACLS, and TNCC certifications required
- Expertise in ESI triage scale and emergency department protocols
- Exceptional assessment skills for pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations
- Proven ability to remain calm and decisive in high-pressure scenarios
- Strong documentation proficiency in Epic EHR systems
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
