Responsibilities
- Pre-Op Preparation: Ensure operating rooms are properly set up, cleaned, and sterilized prior to surgery, including checking and organizing instruments and equipment.
- Surgical Assistance: Assist surgeons and registered nurses during procedures by passing instruments and supplies efficiently and maintaining a sterile field.
- Counting Protocols: Perform accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts before, during, and after surgical procedures to prevent retained items.
- Patient Safety: Monitor patient vitals during surgery and communicate any deviations or concerns to the surgical team immediately.
- Transportation: Safely transport patients to and from the operating room and recovery area.
- Documentation: Accurately complete and maintain patient records and surgical logs.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent.
- Licensure: State licensure or eligibility for licensure in Massachusetts.
- Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a hospital or surgical center setting.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a high-stress environment.
