Responsibilities
- Assist in Surgical Procedures: Provide critical support to surgeons and nurses during a wide variety of operative procedures, anticipating instrument needs and ensuring smooth workflow.
- Maintain Sterility: Adhere strictly to aseptic technique, ensuring the operating room and instruments are sterile before, during, and after surgeries.
- Preparation: Prepare operating rooms by setting up sterile drapes, instruments, and equipment according to surgical protocols.
- Specimen Handling: Accurately label and transport specimens to the pathology lab for analysis.
- Patient Care: Assist in positioning patients safely, applying surgical drapes, and monitoring patient vitals during procedures.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of surgical procedures, counts, and supplies used.
Qualifications
- Certification: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program and currently certified as a CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) or CST-OR.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience in a hospital or surgical center setting preferred.
- Licensure: Current and valid state license for Surgical Technology in Illinois (IL).
- CPR Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail regarding instrument counts and sterile field maintenance.
