Responsibilities
- Prepare Operating Rooms: Set up surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring the sterile field is maintained throughout the procedure.
- Assist Surgeons: Pass instruments and materials to surgeons and surgical assistants, anticipating their needs during complex operations.
- Patient Care Support: Position patients safely on the operating table, draping them appropriately, and monitor patient vital signs.
- Instrument Management: Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery to ensure zero loss and patient safety.
- Sterilization: Properly clean, disinfect, and sterilize all surgical instruments and equipment using approved protocols.
- Documentation: Accurately record details of instruments and supplies used during surgical procedures.
Qualifications
- Certification: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) credential required.
- Licensure: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist in a hospital or surgical center setting preferred.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift patients and equipment, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to Detail: Strict adherence to sterile techniques and safety regulations.
