Responsibilities
- Preparation: Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures by arranging sterile equipment and supplies.
- Assistance: Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and sponges, and counting sponges, needles, and instruments.
- Patient Care: Monitor patient vital signs and record medical history and preoperative information.
- Sterilization: Ensure strict adherence to sterile field techniques and proper sterilization of instruments and equipment.
- Communication: Communicate with the surgical team regarding patient needs, supplies, and equipment.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of surgical procedures and supplies used.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certification of Surgical Assistant (CSA) required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- 1-3 years of experience in a surgical setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and surgical procedures.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills.
