Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring sterility and functionality.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and maintaining a sterile field.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure patient safety and prevent retention.
- Monitor and adjust equipment as needed during surgical operations.
- Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and preparing skin areas.
- Transport patients to and from the operating suite with assistance.
- Document patient information and surgical procedures accurately in medical records.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or certification eligible (CST/CSA).
- Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy and aseptic technique.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well under pressure.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift patients.
