Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room for procedures, ensuring all surgical equipment is sterile and ready for use.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery to maintain strict patient safety standards.
- Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons during operations, anticipating their needs with precision.
- Apply sterile drapes and create sterile fields to prevent infection.
- Monitor the sterile field throughout the procedure and alert the team to any breaches.
- Assist in preparing and sterilizing instruments according to established protocols.
- Assist with patient positioning and safety measures during surgical interventions.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) certification required.
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- 1-3 years of experience in a hospital or outpatient surgery center preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy and aseptic technique.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
