Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment, setting up instruments, and ensuring sterile environments
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, retracting tissues, and handling supplies
- Maintain accurate counts of surgical instruments and supplies before, during, and after procedures
- Coordinate with anesthesia and nursing teams to ensure seamless patient care workflows
- Adhere to strict infection control protocols and regulatory standards (OSHA, AORN)
- Manage sterile processing and inventory of surgical instruments and implants
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives for surgical services
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent credential required
- Minimum 2 years of recent surgical tech experience in acute care setting
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing and operating room protocols
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure, fast-paced surgical environments
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills across multidisciplinary teams
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in surgical technologies
