Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms, instruments, and sterile supplies for surgical procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sutures, and sterile supplies
- Maintain sterile fields and enforce aseptic techniques throughout procedures
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before/after surgery to ensure completeness
- Prepare and transport specimens for laboratory analysis
- Stock and maintain surgical equipment and inventory
- Document procedural activities accurately in electronic health records
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 1 year recent experience in surgical services
- BLS/CPR certification from AHA or Red Cross
- Knowledge of sterile processing and OSHA compliance standards
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
- New Mexico surgical tech license (if applicable)
