Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain sterile surgical fields, ensuring strict adherence to aseptic techniques
- Anticipate surgeon needs during procedures, providing instruments and supplies efficiently
- Operate and troubleshoot advanced surgical equipment including robotics and endoscopy systems
- Manage surgical inventory, sterilization processes, and equipment maintenance
- Document perioperative activities accurately in EMR systems
- Mentor junior technicians and uphold departmental safety standards
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for surgical workflows
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent credential required
- Minimum 2 years recent OR experience in general surgery specialties
- BLS certification and familiarity with SCIP protocols
- Proven ability to maintain composure in high-pressure surgical environments
- Expert knowledge of sterile processing and instrument management
- Experience with EMR documentation systems (Epic preferred)
- Strong communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
