Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by arranging equipment and supplies according to surgeon's preferences.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, sponges, and sutures efficiently.
- Maintain strict adherence to sterile field protocols and aseptic technique at all times.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery to ensure patient safety.
- Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and positioning them appropriately.
- Document patient information and surgical procedures accurately in medical records.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Certified Surgical Technician (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) credential.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent operating room experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical instruments and aseptic technique.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively under pressure.
