Responsibilities
- Preparation: Set up surgical instruments, trays, and supplies prior to surgery, ensuring sterility and accuracy.
- Assistance: Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, holding retractors, and providing sponges.
- Safety: Monitor and maintain sterile field throughout the procedure, anticipating the surgeon's needs.
- Specimen Handling: Properly label and handle tissue specimens for pathology processing.
- Documentation: Accurately document patient information, procedures, and counts in medical records.
- Room Turnover: Efficiently clean, decontaminate, and restock operating rooms between cases.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery (CST) certification required.
- Licensure: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical center setting preferred.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, aseptic technique, and sterilization processes.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with the surgical team.
- Physical: Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
