Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment and setting up surgical instruments
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and maintaining sterile fields
- Handle specimens for laboratory analysis with proper documentation protocols
- Manage surgical supplies inventory and restock perioperative areas
- Adhere to OSHA and JCAHO safety standards for all procedures
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams for seamless case flow
- Maintain accurate surgical counts and documentation per facility policies
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years recent scrub experience in general surgery
- BLS/CPR certification with current validation
- Knowledge of sterile processing protocols and surgical instrumentation
- Ability to thrive in high-pressure, fast-paced environments
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional hand-eye coordination
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to cover various surgical specialties as needed
