Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up sterile fields, instruments, and specialized equipment
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, retracting tissues, and ensuring hemostasis
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques throughout surgical procedures
- Count and account for all surgical sponges, needles, and instruments pre/post-procedure
- Operate sterilization equipment and maintain instrument processing protocols
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams to optimize surgical workflow
- Document procedures accurately and maintain electronic health records
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience in general surgery
- Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation and sterile processing
- BLS certification with current provider status
- Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure emergency situations
- Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail
- Graduate of accredited Surgical Technology program
- Experience with minimally invasive surgical equipment preferred
