Responsibilities
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment before procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and supplies
- Maintain sterile fields and enforce aseptic techniques
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before/after surgeries
- Operate specialized equipment like endoscopic cameras and robotic systems
- Document surgical procedures accurately in electronic health records
- Coordinate with sterile processing for equipment maintenance
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience in acute care setting
- Proficiency with surgical equipment (electrosurgical units, endoscopes, etc.)
- BLS certification and familiarity with HIPAA compliance
- Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure surgical environments
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing protocols
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
