Responsibilities
- Prepare Surgical Environment: Arrange operating room equipment and supplies, ensuring the sterile field is maintained throughout procedures.
- Assist Surgeons: Pass instruments and sterile materials to surgeons during operations with precision and speed.
- Patient Care: Monitor patient vital signs and medical history, responding immediately to any changes or emergencies.
- Inventory Management: Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery to ensure nothing is left in the patient.
- Aseptic Technique: Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.
- Documentation: Accurately record patient data and procedure details in medical records.
- Transportation: Safely transport patients to and from the operating room using appropriate medical equipment.
Qualifications
- Certification: Certified Surgical Technician (CST) or Certification of Completion from an accredited surgical technology program.
- Licensure: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
- Anatomy Knowledge: Strong understanding of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and medical terminology.
- Detail Oriented: Ability to maintain focus and attention to detail in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift patients or equipment as necessary.
