Responsibilities
- Prepare Operating Rooms: Ensure operating rooms are properly set up with sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment prior to surgery.
- Assist Surgeons: Provide comprehensive assistance during surgical procedures, passing instruments and maintaining a sterile field.
- Patient Care: Monitor patient vital signs and communicate changes to the nursing and medical teams immediately.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and restock surgical supplies to prevent shortages during procedures.
- Instrument Sterilization: Ensure all surgical instruments are properly cleaned, decontaminated, and sterilized according to hospital protocols.
- First Assist Support: Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts accurately as directed by the surgeon.
Qualifications
- Certification: Must possess current Certification as a Surgical Technician (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA).
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical setting.
- Licensure: Active Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to maintain a sterile environment and adhere to strict safety protocols.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a high-pressure team environment.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift equipment as needed.
