Responsibilities
- Pre-Operative Preparation: Prepare operating rooms, sterilize instruments, and ensure all equipment is functioning correctly before procedures begin.
- Surgical Assistance: Assist surgeons and nurses during procedures, passing instruments and supplies with precision and efficiency.
- Post-Operative Care: Monitor patient recovery in the recovery room, ensuring comfort and safety during the transition from anesthesia.
- Infection Control: Adhere strictly to sterilization and sanitation protocols to prevent infections and maintain a safe environment.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including surgical counts and medical histories.
- Communication: Collaborate effectively with the surgical team to ensure seamless workflow and patient safety.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Surgical Technician (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) certification required.
- Licensure: Active Louisiana State Surgical Technologist license.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center setting preferred.
- BLS/CPR: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) mandatory.
- Skills: Proficiency in aseptic technique, strong communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
