Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons and nursing staff during surgical procedures by preparing the operating room and sterilizing instruments.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery to ensure patient safety and accurate billing.
- Handle patient specimens accurately for lab analysis according to hospital protocols.
- Maintain strict adherence to sterile techniques and aseptic principles at all times.
- Manage inventory of surgical supplies and restock rooms as needed to ensure efficiency.
- Document patient information and procedure details accurately in medical records.
- Respond to emergency situations in the operating room with calm and professionalism.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical setting preferred.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs during procedures.
- Strong knowledge of surgical instruments and aseptic technique.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
