Responsibilities
- Preparation: Set up operating rooms with all necessary surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Assistance: Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and holding retractors.
- Sterilization: Ensure all surgical instruments and areas are properly sterilized and maintained in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Patient Care: Position patients on the operating table, create sterile fields, and prepare drapes.
- Instrument Management: Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure patient safety.
- Documentation: Accurately record patient data and surgical specimens as directed.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED is required. Completion of a formal Surgical Technology program is a plus but not mandatory for this entry-level position.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with medical staff and patients.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients or equipment as needed.
- Attention to Detail: High level of concentration and precision when handling delicate surgical instruments.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is preferred; on-site training provided.
