Responsibilities
- Pre-Operative Prep: Prepare operating rooms with all necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies; ensure the sterile field is maintained throughout surgery.
- Surgical Assistance: Pass instruments and sponges to surgeons and surgical assistants during procedures; hold retractors as directed.
- Patient Care: Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and sterilizing the surgical site; assist with positioning patients safely.
- Equipment Management: Monitor and adjust equipment settings to ensure optimal surgical conditions; handle specimens accurately for lab analysis.
- Post-Operative Care: Count sponges, needles, and instruments to ensure nothing is left behind; prepare patients for transport to the recovery room.
- Sanitation: Clean and sterilize all surgical instruments and equipment according to strict hospital protocols.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience: No prior experience necessary; candidates with a background in healthcare, military service, or customer service are highly preferred.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Attention to Detail: Keen eye for detail and ability to follow complex instructions under pressure.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Certification: Willingness to obtain certification (CST) upon completion of training program.
