Responsibilities
- Pre-Operative Preparation: Set up operating rooms with sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies according to surgical procedures.
- Surgical Assistance: Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and materials efficiently and anticipating their needs.
- Sterile Field Maintenance: Maintain a sterile environment, ensuring proper handling and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment.
- Patient Care Support: Monitor patient vital signs and provide pre- and post-operative care as directed by the charge nurse or surgeon.
- Inventory Management: Count and inspect surgical instruments and supplies before, during, and after procedures to ensure inventory accuracy and safety.
- Documentation: Accurately complete surgical records, logs, and counts as required by hospital protocols.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Surgical Technician (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) certification required.
- Licensure: Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a hospital or surgical center setting.
- Specialization: Experience in general surgery, orthopedics, or neurosurgery preferred.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and surgical procedures; excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with the surgical team and other hospital staff.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays to support our surgical schedule.
