Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring all equipment and instruments are sterile and ready for use.
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and materials, maintaining a sterile field, and anticipating the surgeon's needs.
- Perform accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments before, during, and after procedures to ensure patient safety.
- Handle patient transport and positioning, ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the surgical process.
- Dispose of contaminated supplies and clean and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment according to hospital protocols.
- Document patient information and surgical procedures accurately in medical records.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technician (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) certification required.
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience in a hospital or surgical center setting.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and sterile field management.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
