Responsibilities

  • Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring all equipment and instruments are sterile and ready for use.
  • Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and materials, maintaining a sterile field, and anticipating the surgeon's needs.
  • Perform accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments before, during, and after procedures to ensure patient safety.
  • Handle patient transport and positioning, ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the surgical process.
  • Dispose of contaminated supplies and clean and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment according to hospital protocols.
  • Document patient information and surgical procedures accurately in medical records.

Qualifications

  • Certified Surgical Technician (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) certification required.
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience in a hospital or surgical center setting.
  • Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and sterile field management.
