Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons and nursing staff during operative procedures, anticipating needs to ensure a smooth workflow.
- Prepare the operating room by setting up instruments, supplies, and equipment according to surgical procedures.
- Maintain a sterile field and adhere strictly to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Monitor patient vital signs and communicate critical changes immediately to the surgical team.
- Transport patients safely to and from the operating suite and assist with recovery positioning.
- Process and label surgical specimens accurately for laboratory analysis.
- Perform stock checks of surgical supplies and requisition new items as needed.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technician (CST) or eligible to obtain certification.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center setting.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, sterilization processes, and equipment handling.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift equipment or patients as required.
