Responsibilities
- Prepare Operating Rooms: Set up surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies to ensure a sterile environment for procedures.
- Surgeon Assistance: Pass instruments and sponges to surgeons and surgical assistants during operations, anticipating their needs.
- Patient Safety: Monitor patient vital signs and maintain strict adherence to aseptic technique to prevent infection.
- Specimen Handling: Properly label, transport, and deliver surgical specimens to the lab for analysis.
- Clean-up & Turnover: Assist in the cleaning and restocking of the operating room between cases to ensure efficiency.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) credential.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical center setting.
- Licensure: Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to prioritize tasks and maintain a sterile field under pressure.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective teamwork.
