Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up sterile fields, equipment, and instrumentation
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, holding retractors, and cutting sutures
- Maintain strict sterile protocols and aseptic techniques throughout surgical procedures
- Count and account for all surgical instruments, sponges, and needles before/after surgery
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment using advanced sterilization systems
- Transport patients to/from operating rooms and position them appropriately
- Document surgical activities accurately in electronic health records
Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent military training
- Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 1 year of recent OR experience in general surgery
- Proficiency in sterilization techniques and instrument processing
- BLS certification from American Heart Association
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced emergency situations
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts including weekends
