Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment and arranging surgical instruments
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and supplies
- Maintain sterile fields and monitor aseptic technique compliance
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before/during/after surgery
- Prepare patients for surgery and transport to recovery areas
- Manage surgical equipment sterilization and inventory
- Document procedural details accurately in electronic health records
Qualifications
- Accredited Surgical Technology program graduate or equivalent military training
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 1 year recent OR experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing and surgical instrumentation
- BLS/CPR certification maintained
- Ability to work in fast-paced, high-stress environments
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts including weekends
