Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms and sterile instruments and supplies for surgical procedures.
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and sterile supplies.
- Maintain the sterile field and ensure patient safety at all times.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure zero loss.
- Communicate effectively with the surgical team to ensure efficient workflow.
- Monitor and manage the care of patients undergoing invasive procedures.
- Prepare and transport patients to and from the operating suite.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery (CST/TS) certification required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, sterile technique, and aseptic procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift patients weighing up to 250 lbs.
