Responsibilities
- Preparation: Set up operating rooms with necessary instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment prior to surgery.
- Assistance: Pass instruments and sterile supplies to surgeons during procedures, anticipating their needs.
- Sterility: Maintain a sterile field and adhere to strict aseptic techniques at all times.
- Specimen Handling: Retrieve and label specimens for pathology as directed by the surgeon.
- Monitoring: Monitor patient vital signs and report any abnormalities to the registered nurse or surgeon.
- Documentation: Accurately document surgical procedures and counts.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) certification required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of surgical experience preferred, preferably in a multi-specialty OR setting.
- Education: Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Licensure: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS certification.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy and terminology; excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with the surgical team and patients.
