Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws following strict infection control protocols
- Process and label specimens accurately for laboratory testing
- Maintain patient records and electronic documentation systems
- Ensure proper specimen handling and storage according to regulatory standards
- Calibrate and troubleshoot phlebotomy equipment
- Provide patient education on pre-test preparation procedures
- Collaborate with clinical staff to optimize patient flow and experience
Qualifications
- Current Texas Phlebotomy Technician certification (PTC) required
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA compliance standards
- Excellent venipuncture skills with pediatric and geriatric populations
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Valid CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree preferred
