Responsibilities
- Pre-Operative Prep: Prepare operating rooms with all necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies to ensure the surgeon has everything required for a successful procedure.
- Surgical Assistance: Assist the surgical team during operations by passing instruments and sponges efficiently and anticipating the surgeon's needs.
- Sterile Processing: Maintain strict aseptic techniques to ensure the surgical field remains sterile throughout the operation.
- Patient Safety: Monitor patient vital signs and report any abnormalities immediately to the registered nurse or surgeon.
- Specimen Handling: Properly label, handle, and transport surgical specimens to the pathology department according to protocol.
- Post-Operative Care: Assist in cleaning and restocking the operating room for the next procedure.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Surgical Technician (CST) or Certification-eligible status required.
- Education: Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Experience: One to two years of experience in a surgical setting is preferred.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of surgical procedures, anatomy, and medical terminology.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- License: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS certification is required.
