Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring all instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready and available.
- Assist surgeons and nurses during operations by passing instruments and materials with precision and timing.
- Maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures, strictly adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure nothing is retained in the patient.
- Monitor patient vitals and report any significant changes or emergencies to the charge nurse or surgeon immediately.
- Transport patients to and from the operating room and recovery areas with the utmost care and professionalism.
- Document patient care activities and maintain accurate surgical records.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or CNA required.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS certifications.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience in a hospital or surgical center setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift equipment up to 50 lbs.
