Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly and sterilized.
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and supplies, anticipating the next step in the procedure.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments to maintain a safe surgical environment and prevent retained items.
- Monitor patient vital signs and maintain sterile field protocols throughout the surgery.
- Prepare patients for surgery, including skin prep and draping.
- Dispose of contaminated supplies and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST or CMA) required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a surgical setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and sterilization procedures.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift equipment as needed.
