Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile fields and surgical instruments in compliance with OSHA standards
- Assist surgeons during procedures including passing instruments, suturing, and wound closure
- Maintain accurate surgical counts and documentation per hospital protocols
- Operate advanced surgical equipment including laparoscopic and robotic systems
- Manage inventory and sterilization processes for 10+ operating rooms
- Train junior staff on equipment protocols and safety procedures
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives for surgical outcomes
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent credential required
- Minimum 2 years recent OR experience in general surgery
- Current BLS/CPR certification with AHA provider status
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems (Epic preferred)
- Ability to stand 8+ hours with flexible shift availability (days/evenings)
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing and HIPAA compliance
- Excellent communication skills for multidisciplinary collaboration
