Responsibilities
- Preparation: Set up operating rooms with necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies before surgeries.
- Assistance: Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons during procedures, anticipating their needs.
- Sterilization: Ensure all surgical equipment is properly sterilized and functioning correctly.
- Patient Care: Assist in positioning patients safely and provide post-operative care instructions when applicable.
- Documentation: Accurately document surgical counts, procedures, and patient data.
- Environment: Maintain a sterile and organized environment throughout the surgical process.
Qualifications
- Certification: Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) required; credentials from the NBSTSA or NCCT.
- Education: Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical setting preferred.
- Licensure: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy and aseptic technique.
- Physical: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
