Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and sterile supplies to surgeons and nurses.
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments to ensure all surgical items are accounted for.
- Monitor the functioning of equipment and adjust equipment as necessary.
- Transport patients to and from the operating room, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Apply sterile dressings to wounds and monitor patient vital signs during surgery.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or CORT.
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a hospital or surgical setting.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and surgical procedures.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift patients or equipment as needed.
