Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms and sterile instruments and supplies for surgical procedures.
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and materials.
- Maintain strict aseptic technique to prevent surgical site infections.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments to ensure all are accounted for.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any significant changes to the nursing staff.
- Transport patients safely to and from the operating suite.
- Ensure the operating room remains organized and clean throughout the shift.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) required.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a hospital or surgical center setting.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, aseptic technique, and sterilization protocols.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment.
- High school diploma or GED required.
