Responsibilities
- Preparation: Prepare operating rooms with all necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies prior to surgery.
- Assistance: Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and supplies, holding retractors, and counting sponges and needles.
- Hygiene: Maintain a sterile field to ensure patient safety and prevent infections.
- Vital Monitoring: Monitor the patient's vital signs and report any changes to the surgical team immediately.
- Organization: Count sponges, needles, and instruments to ensure no foreign objects are left behind in the surgical site.
- Documentation: Accurately label specimens and document procedures performed.
Qualifications
- Certification: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Licensure: Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) credential.
- State Licensure: Valid Alaska State Surgical Technologist license (or ability to obtain).
- CPR: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of operating room experience preferred.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and aseptic technique.
