Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures by setting up sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and other sterile supplies.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments to maintain a sterile environment and ensure zero loss.
- Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and sterilizing the operative site.
- Monitor the sterile field during procedures and alert the surgical team if any breaches occur.
- Handle and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment after use.
- Transport patients to and from the operating room while ensuring their comfort and safety.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical center setting preferred.
- Strong understanding of aseptic technique and sterile processing protocols.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients or equipment as needed.
